Sport fishing

The Guanacaste coast fishes well year round, and boats run out of Tamarindo, about thirty-five minutes up the road.

What's biting

Sailfish and marlin offshore; mahi mahi through much of the year; roosterfish, snapper and grouper closer in. Inshore half-days suit families and anyone who would rather not spend eight hours out.

How it works from here

Alberto books the boat and drives you to the dock before dawn. Bring back what you catch and it goes on the four-burner grill that evening — or Karla will cook it properly.
